Scientists At Work!
On Saturday, two AES students interviewed Mary from Miller Farms Nursery as part of their science fair project. For a science project, and interview with an expert in the field is part of the Evidence of Knowledge on the scoring rubric.
Why is a science fair project such a great learning experience? Science projects involve so much more than science - there is research (library and computer), writing, math, planning skills, and if the student works with a partner, they develop collaboration skills. Preparing a science fair project is also an excellent example of what education experts call active learning or inquiry (also "hands-on" learning).
AES Science Fair Projects due Tuesday, February 26th. Winners will move on to the Humboldt County competition March 18 - 22.
