Read Across America

AES will be celebrating Read Across America on Monday, March 2nd. We have an exciting day planned with have guest readers coming into classrooms.

Read Across America Day, also known as Dr Seuss Day, is a yearly observance in the USA inaugurated by the NEA (National Education Association).

NEA launched the Read Across America, which is an initiative on reading that began in 1997, to encourage children in reading more books and also getting them excited about reading. On 2 March 1998, the first Read Across America Day was celebrated; since then, it has been held annually. The special day mainly focuses on motivating children to read as it improves their performance in school.

School Visit by Lucy Meyer

Arcata Elementary School will have a special guest speaker Wednesday, March 4th. Lucy Meyer, spokesperson for the Special Olympics - UNICEF USA Partnership for children with disabilities, will be talking to students and spreading the message of acceptance and inclusion. We are very excited to have Lucy visit our school!

Family Movie Night Is Back!

The K-Kids is hosting a Family Movie Night on Friday, February 28. The doors open at 6:00pm and the movie starts at 6:15pm. The film is FREE. Snacks and beverages are available to purchase and all proceeds will go toward K-Kids Service Projects.

Don't forget to bring a comfortable chair or blanket. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
