Six Days Until School Starts. Are You Ready?
The first day of school is quickly approaching and we are looking forward to having you and your family return for the new year. Arcata Elementary School has an outstanding and dedicated educational staff that have been collaborating on a great distance learning plan. Together we will make your child’s education a meaningful and positive experience.
● This year we will be starting the school year with a Distance Learning model. At the August 10th meeting of the ASD Board of Trustees, the Board passed a resolution indicating a commitment to Distance Learning for the first trimester. The ability to return to onsite instruction for the following trimesters will be reevaluated at each regular board meeting.
● Class lists - this year your child’s class assignment will be available through your ParentVue account on Wednesday, August 19, at 4:00 pm. If you need your access key to set up your account please call the school office.
● Materials - Each student has a grade level kit with school supplies. Materials will be available for pick-up on Monday, August 24th, 8:30 am - 6:30 pm. Pick-up times are organized by the student's LAST name. The schedule will be for material pick-up will be included with your child's teacher's email.
● First Day of School: Tuesday, August 25th. School will be online. Students will need to sign into their classroom Zoom by 8:30am. Teachers will send their weekly schedules and zoom sessions via email. All students will be starting the school day at 8:30 am. Grade level schedules vary but most children will be accessing the curriculum between 8:30 am - 12:30 pm.
● Attendance: attendance will be taken throughout the school day as your student attends online sessions.
● ParentVUE - The parent portal, ParentVUE, will give you access to attendance, paperwork, classroom assignment, and other data about your child or children. You will be able to see records for all of your children at any AESD school with a single log-in. You can access ParentVUE through the Internet and most Android and iOS devices. There is a free ParentVUE app by EduPoint for iOS and Android. If you are a new parent/guardian at our school district, or you need another activation key, please contact of school office. Our office is open Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 4:00 pm. You can also email our school secretary, Cindy, [email protected] for information.
● Yearly paperwork - There is a sizable collection of information concerning the school year and forms for you to complete. You can complete this information online using your ParentVUE account. Please complete the paperwork by Friday, September 4th.
● Teacher Connection - your child’s teacher will send you an email with important information about their classroom and our distance learning program. Please take the time to read the email and the attachments - our distance learning plan is different this year.
● You can find us online! We have a school website (www. arcataelementaryschool.org). Our website is packed with information about our school and features a school calendar, the Paw Prints newsletter, and parent resources for distance learning. We are also on Facebook.
