Safety First at AES

Arcata High School was on lockdown Monday morning after a shooting at Foster and Heather Lane in Arcata.
It happened just after 8:00 am and one man was injured. The suspects were taken into custody. The incident is under investigation by the APD.
Arcata High School went on lockdown for around 20 minutes to ensure the safety of the students and staff.
We called APD to be advised of the situation and it was determined that our campus was not threatened. However, just to be sure, we notified the teachers of the situation and canceled all outdoor activities until the situation was resolved.
